UB’s educational administration program has been recognized by the American Association of School Administrators as outstanding in the preparation of educational administrators. The Ed.D. is our doctorate for those who strive to apply their leadership skills in diverse educational settings, while the Ph.D. focuses on research and scholarship in educational administration. The Leadership Initiative for Tomorrow’s Schools (LIFTS) Advanced Certificate program offers three graduate options to prepare candidates to apply to the New York State Education Department (SED) for certification as school leaders. These include School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), and School District Business Leader (SDBL). These programs will prepare candidates for careers as principals, assistant principals, superintendents, assistant superintendents, and other administrative positions within a school or school district.
